In the course of his professional career, Marc Hilgers has advised on numerous lighthouse projects both in Germany and abroad. These include, in particular, infrastructure measures, which in recent years have often been designed as PPP or IPD projects (tunnels, motorways, underground railway and railway projects), structural engineering projects (concert halls, museum buildings, clinics) and civil and hydraulic engineering measures (offshore wind farms, plant construction projects, dams and bridges). Another focus of his legal work is on procurement law and architectural law mandates. He also regularly conducts construction processes, arbitration and conciliation proceedings, and supports contract award review procedures.
In addition to his work as a lawyer, Marc Hilgers teaches construction and procurement law as an honorary professor at the University of Bochum and is the author of numerous specialist articles on construction and procurement law. He is one of only a few German lawyers who are certified and listed as FIDIC Dispute Adjudicators in international large-scale plant construction. He is also an arbitrator in accordance with the German Institution for Arbitration (DIS) and the Arbitration Code for Construction (SGO-Bau), as well as a member of the ICC Commission for Arbitration and ADR.
